Draping The Lining

Removing the lining from the vintage mans jacket, i then experimented with different drapes and techniques of structures with this piece of fabric.

Draping The Jacket

After Deconstructing the men's jacket draping it seemed to be an easier way of reforming it into new shapes and experimenting with seams in unconventional places, such as the neck line being used as a sleeve.

Vintage Jacket

After purchasing a mens vintage jacket, deconstucting it was the next task in lesson. Finding that tthe jacket lining was pretty easy to unpick, with it having hand made soulder pads it was hard not to tear into them as they were so delicate.

Taking the lining off i found that the inside of the jacket has some interesting sewing lines and colours.

PVA/Tights Experimentation.. Continued

After doing last weeks session of covering the chair, leaving it to dry completely.
This week we removed it from the chair and started draping in on the mannequin to see what shapes and forms we had created. The tights i had used seemed to have shriveled up so covering the mannequin was a bit harder as i didn't have that much fabric space.

PVA/Tights Experimentation

This lesson had me intrigued as to how tights and pva glue would some somewhat a structure. Covering a solid object (ours being a chair) in cling film then layering on the tights so that it covered the majority of the clingfilm. adding effects like pleating and platting then covered them with glue completely and left them to dry.

Rule Based Art Expanded

After doing week 2 task, this lesson was all about expanding the shapes to a size that we could drape over the mannequins. using the curves and lines of the shapes to curve and shape around the body figure. Some interesting shapes were formed from this, then (in images below) we scrunched the paper up, then using them lines draped the paper over the mannequin.
